Charity

Introducing children to participate in charity collections is part of the wider informal curriculum at Orangefield.

Children are encouraged to help others less fortunate than themselves both at home and abroad, and to develop a thoughtful and caring attitude towards those persons.  Please encourage your child to save some of his/her pocket money for the weekly collections.  During the year the children will take part in special charity events to focus attention on specific causes.  A few of the National Charities supported in the past have been Children in Need, Barnardos, Erin Thompson Memorial Trust, RAFA Wings Appeal, Sport Relief, Royal British Legion, Water Aid and Habitat for Humanity.

Local based charities such as Northern Ireland Hospice Children’s Service, Guide Dogs for the Blind Association, Northern Ireland Cancer Fund for Children, Erin Thompson Memorial Trust and Deans Fund have also received our support.

We are very conscious of the  support of parents in all these efforts and we take this opportunity to thank parents for their understanding in what we believe is an important aspect of school life and ask them to continue to encourage children in developing a caring attitude.

Our current school charity for the year 2016/17 Age NI. Each week we have a charity collection in class on a Friday. Find out more about Age NI on their Facebook page or their website link below.
